2023 May 4th Local Election

Welcome to the Election Address page

Thank you everyone who voted and returned me for another 4 years on the Parish Council, unfortunately I didn't make the cut for Borough Council, a heavy political vote denied me the opportunity to ensure West End and Bisley had excellent representation.

I have chosen this medium to communicate to be more comprehensive, reduce the environmental impact of having a glossy double-page A4 leaflet, and of course the expense due to not having a party political machine behind me with election funds and associated resources. I am not a fan of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and the rest, I prefer to engage directly with people when they need my help.

Being an Independent Councillor, the residents are top of my pecking order with no donors or party hierarchy setting or influencing my agenda.

There will be no Westminster-style attacks on my fellow political party councillors or prospective candidates. That would just be a waste of effort, instead I prefer to engage with colleagues constructively for the benefit of the community. Local Councillors are about what can be done in our community as opposed to national politics.

Being a Councillor is rewarding if you desire to preserve, protect and enhance your living environment to ensure the Villages are a great place to live. If you feel enthused by the prospect I am more than happy to help you stand as an Independent candidate in the future, just drop me a line or call for a chat about an exciting opportunity.

During my time as a Councillor I have worked with Parish, Borough and County Councillors on delivering the following that I have instigated or supported for the benefit of the Ward.

Delivered:

  • Surrey Heath Borough Council motion to increase Community Infrastructure Levy spending in the Wards taking significant development.
  • Extra Street Lights in reported dark spots to improve confidence to walk to amenities after dark.
  • New pedestrian refuge island near BP on A322.
  • New drain near BP to alleviate flooded footpath.
  • New Village signs to communicate what West End is about.
  • Parking restrictions to improve pedestrian and motorist safety.
  • Local Plan Policy to resist any further significant housing development in the Ward.
  • Housing Policy to resist loss of small or single-level dwellings.
  • Preservation of the Green Belt from another major housing development.
  • Enforcement resources and reporting to meet the statutory requirements to maintain the integrity of the Planning System.
  • Representations on behalf of residents whose quality of life is diminished by excessive HGV movements, applications for inappropriate HGV operating centres, anti-social behaviour of residents or businesses causing nuisance or environmental damage, pursuing faults with new housing estate infrastructure and issues raised regarding Council services.
  • Countless numbers of pothole reporting.
  • Petition for Speed Calming and School Crossing.
  • Contribution for Trees on the SANG Community Orchard.
  • Contribution to West End Tennis Club, Church project and Social Club
  • Waste contractors are not to leave wheely bins blocking footpaths after waste collection.
  • Planning permission condition to require construction vehicles to keep off footpaths.
  • Informal footpath onto Bisley and West End Recreation grounds.
  • Multi Use Games Area.
  • Skate Park.

Proposed if elected:

  • Plans for a safer pedestrian access to the West End SANG.
  • West End Pavillion building upgrade
  • Scout and Guide Centre replacement for West End.
  • Speed Calming and Footway improvements.
  • Tree replacement in significant locations.
